Summary

Inspired by Iohanna Nicenboim‘s posthuman stories I resurrected some work from 2022 where I observed and thought about a sofa that was floating around in a canal near my home.

Whilst objects being in canals are nothing new, few of them float around and I do not think I have ever seen a sofa. There was something charming about it moving around the canal and having other non-humans sit on it. I was so engaged that I was a little sad when it was finally hooked by someone and removed.

I experimented in this short piece with using the second person, resulting a conversation between the sofa and you the reader. This included projecting or tell you the emotions you are having, which is an interesting tension.
